Accessibility:
There are daily flights to Kyaing Tong
from Yangon, Mandalay, and Heho (Inle Lake)
on private airlines. It will take around
5-hours with 3-stops if you fly from Yangon.
It is the same if you fly from Kyaing Tong
to Yangon. The more convenient route is
to fly from Mandalay via Heho and Tachileik.
Since it takes a long time to fly from Kyaing
Tong to Yangon, it is better to fly on a
direct flight to Heho for Inle Lake. On
the other hand, Kyaing Tong sector should
not be visited at your last leg unless you
are leaving Myanmar from Thai border town
of Tachileik. Our suggestion will be like
this: - Yangon-Bagan-Mandalay-Kyaing Tong-Inle
Lake and back to Yangon or to the beach
destination. We don’t see any opportunities
to allow road travels between Taunggyi and
Kyaing Tong until 2010. The cars using for
tour services in Kyaing Tong cannot be highly
expected. Normally, there are no air-conditioned
system installed and the quality of the
vehicles is also not up to par.
