Mandalay
– Pyin Oo Lwin
After breakfast, drive to Pyin Oo
Lwin, a beautiful and charming hill
resort with lingering colonial atmosphere,
some 76km east of Mandalay. On the
scenic winding uphill road, make
a few stops to visit viewpoint,
and the refreshing flower market,
as Pyin Oo Lwin and the surrounding
hills are known for growing of fresh
beautiful flowers at all season.
Before making visit in town, drive
a little further on the Mandalay-Lashio
highway leaving Pyin Oo Lwin, to
visit a famous picnic spot – the
BE waterfalls. Then return to Pyin
Oo Lwin and try out a cup of flavorsome
local coffee and a slice of homemade
cake at Golden Triangle café before
taking a pony cart tour along the
pine-fumed romantic circular road
to see the old colonial buildings,
churches, hospitals etc. Afterwards,
take your time to explore in the
vast grounds of exotic flowerbeds,
rare and endemic plant species.
Stroll around on the swamps & forest
walkways, the national landmarks,
and even a small zoo. The Kandawgyi
Gardens, which is now called, was
originally developed by a British
forestry officer using Turkish POWs.
Night stop will be made in Pyin
Oo Lwin. |

Pyin
Oo Lwin – Gothtaik Viaduct – Hsipaw
After breakfast, transfer to old
British-built railway station. Then
enjoy your 6-hr journey highlighted
on the enchanting landscapes, villages,
railway bazaars, and a thrilling
experience while the train crawls
over the century-old world second
highest Gothtaik viaduct. The train
will leave around 8:30am and arriving
Hispaw approx. 2:30pm. Transfer
to your hotel and take a brief rest
before taking a walk to the old
Shan Palace, built in European style
by the last Sao Bwa of Hispaw, the
Shan Chieftain. Stay overnight at
Hsipaw. |

Hsipaw
and environs
Early in the morning around 5:00am,
visit will be made to interesting
candle-lit market and try local
Shan food breakfast. Then begin
your trek & trek tour to nearby
Shan villages, old typical Shan
monasteries, orchards along the
Dukhtawaddy River and have your
picnic lunch somewhere on the way.
Depending on ones interest and stamina,
there are several trekking routes
to be chosen to see different tribal
villages, waterfalls etc. Return
to Hispaw to visit a popcorn factory,
central market and explore the Hispaw’s
bucolic atmosphere, whether on bicycle
or on foot. Stay overnight at Hsipaw.

Hsipaw
– Mandalay
After breakfast, leave Hsipaw for
Mandalay by car. Just after leaving
the old Shan capital, visit will
be made to region’s most revered
Bawgyo temple, where four holy Buddha
images are housed. Then, make a
stop again to visit the downtown
section and the main market place
of Kyaukme. Continue drive on this
highly scenic road passing through
many picturesque landscapes, river
gorges, and countryside Shan villages
until before Pyin Oo Lwin, to visit
a huge long natural limestone cave
called Peikchinmyaung where many
images of Buddha in different style
and some reproductions of famous
religious sites of Myanmar. You
may stop again to take a good cup
of coffee in Golden Triangle café
before continuing for the last leg
for your journey. |
